I think they're saying it's religious because it's usually a Christian/Catholic thing to not have sex until marriage. A lot of Christians and Catholics (but certainly not all) are conservative. Still, choosing when you have sex isn't entirely religious, so...

he was probably not having a good time either and he said the two most obivious things that would piss a woman off calling her stupid and asking her for sex, he probably knew that the date would be cut short if he said that. and that you would never ask for a second date again. that is what i think because who really is THAT stupid.....
Well, it's good you found out, but.. guess what? It's a rule- you never discuss serious topics on a first date. Politics, religion, past relationships, things like that are off-topic. It's about being considerate, and not causing a big riot on your first time out together. Anyways, oh well. He was a jerk. Your life is hardly ******.

They say there are two things you should never discuss on a first date: politics and religion. Nothing gets people riled up more. Maybe next time wait awhile. I agree, this guy was a douche, but what if next time you bring up your views and piss off someone you genuinely like? If he hasn't had a chance to get to know you yet, he might not overlook your differing opinions and give it a shot.
