Today, I went on a second date with a guy who seemed perfect in every way possible. That is until he started mentioned how children are a deal-breaker for him. I had to break it to him that I have a 14 month old daughter. He actually had the balls to ask if I'd ever consider foster care. Seriously, dude? FML

This post should have a YDI option. Having a kid is one of the first things you should tell someone on the first date. Anything that happens after is your fault because you were hiding it and it sounds like you only mentioned your kid when you got "offended" that your date doesn't want children and or doesn't want to date someone with children. I think the foster care comment was a joke that OP just didn't get because she was too busy being offended.

A joke suggests it was funny. It wasn't. It may be funny to a niche group of people, but to at least 95% of the rest of us, it would not be. That same 5% would also think that dead baby jokes are THE most hilarious thing that ever was invented. To even bring up foster care at such an early stage in a relationship, even when it's immediately followed by "I'm joking" is nothing short of outrageous. Now, far be it from me to act the PC Police, but OP had every right to get miffed at him for saying something so disrespectful and self-centered.

YDI. You'd think your kid would be something you mention on the first date. My 2 kids are one of the first things I mention to any woman I'm interested in. If that's too much for them, I'm not even going to consider dating them.
