I don't believe this FML post. All "modern" cars from even late 80's have rev limitter, so you cannot over rev your engine. And surely even driving on 1st gear with high revs will not overheat the engine on so short trip. They might possibly have broken the clutch tho...
It can happen if you downshift at a high enough speed. The rev limiter only keeps you from revving the engine past a certain point, it will not stop the transmission from revving the engine higher than the limit. I drive stick. I would take it over an automatic or sequential transmission any day.
The car's OBC won't let you downshift under conditions where the selected gear will place engine revs over the limited amount. The OBC closes and opens gates that will/won't allow you to shift into certain gears. Try going into 1st at 60 mph. You can't. All that would happen would be a burned out clutch or some stripped gears. This is the 2nd FML in a week that has talked about "blowing" an engine from someone who couldnt drive stick. You can't do it to any car made after 1985 or so.
Because there aren't many advantages to driving stick besides the small gas savings and that your car isn't as likely to be stolen.
Bah. Manual gives more control, enables playing with the car on snow.. and also prevents accidental gear slip on ice/snow. I have had both, my current is again manual.. and the next one will also be manual.
Regular manual cars are starting to phase out. :p Cars are slowly beginning to convert to sequential transmission.
Auto is boring as hell and manual gives you alooot more control. Youre obviously driving an auto and never had a manual to write a comment like that.
Did your boyfriend steal it? Seriously, if you're going to rip off another FML at least wait more than a week to do it. http://www.fmylife.com/love/5286823
Yup. As soon as I read this I was just going to find that last FML. How did this even get through?
*Sniff* Let's have a song in memory of this car, followed by a minute of silence for the deceased "...My First Car Was An Old Rust Bucket But Man I Loved It Like It Was New My First Car Picked Up My Baby Drove Her Daddy Crazy A Time Or Two Blaring Music Way To Loud Songs About Getting Outta Town Two Ball Tires And A Tank Full Of Dreams..."
They blew the engine and not the stick? weird.
Why do people from the UK always call Americans stupid. You're just mad we kicked your ass 200 years ago. *******
Haha EXACTLY!!!
It is not only ppl from UK, its all around the globe. Maybe you should think for a while why ppl do that...
It's because people are gullible enough to believe that every American is the exact same.
It's because of the impression of both the vast majority of America, as well as their celebrities. Eg Kanye
university of kentucky isn't so bad ;)
if you went to dc today, then how come ur back today?
Because all FMLs have to start with today, and the OP probably ran out of room to say 'Today, as I was getting back from my trip to Washington dc.' Note how they also only put DC, probably ran out of room..
FAKE. that's your clutch, faker.

Manual is the best way to go. I drive one and my whole family drives one. It's more fun and more economical. Automatic cars are boring and just put me to sleep... And dude, i'm from America, and we're not all fat. I've been stuck around 120 pounds for the past 5 years and i'm 20. And we're not all ignorant douchebags like we're made out to be... I personally don't think that America is "the greatest country on Earth", saying that is just plain ignorant. In some ways it's better than others, and in other ways it's worse then others. Look, I like America, but i'm not one of those people that gets a hard-on every time someone mentions it. And this is my first time replying to someone elses post so I hope I pressed the right reply button.
Sad face emoticon. SUX BRAH.
