this has nothing to do with this FML, i just really wanted to leave a comment for #253 on the last one. i agree, he's an idiot for not knowing that mouth wash has alcohol in it, but the number you blow on a breatalizer IS the percentage of alcohol in the blood. way to go dumbass. about this FML, sue the restaraunt.
Uh how could food poisoning cost you 24k in hospital bills? They charge that much to but a limb back on if its severed...
Okay, to all of you asking how 36 hours ago can be today? It's a standard beginning thrown on to stories for the purpose of the site. Seriously? Are you that dense?
Healthcare is not a right in the US. Many people get their healthcare either by their job or some relative (a parent or spouse). If the OP is unemployed or works somewhere that doesn't offer health benefits, it is totally possible s/he does not have health insurance. Also $24,000 is possible. In college, I was once rushed to the emergency for drinking too much (sorority hazing gone wrong) and even though all the doctor did was take my blood to check my BAC and give me a cup of water, the bill came out to $650 plus an additional $400 for the ambulance ride. $1100 so that the doctor could hand me a cup of water and tell me to keep drinking until my BAC was below the legal limit.
Man, and I thought the $45 cheeseburger after getting an overdraft charge on McD's was bad. And $24k is very believable- a hospital bed cost thousands a night, not to mention all the tests. And for those doubting food poisoning kicking in so fast, it's possible, there's two different types, fast onset caused by the toxins left behind by the microorganisms, sets in within hours, and the slow onset, caused by the microorganisms them selves takes a day or two to set in.
