Today, I went to a fast-food joint and ordered off the $1.00 menu to save money. Five hours later I go to the hospital with food-poisoning. After a whole day of not eating, crapping, puking, having tests, and a bunch of IV fluids, my $1.00 burger ended up costing me $2,000 in bills. Really. FML

omg! thats horrible...but you totally should have expected anything to come by; with a burger so cheap. -Anything cheap is not worth the buy.

you wouldnt think that it would be so convincing, but after you said "really" i believed you. hehe. that toadly blows. i hope you have someway or someone to help you cover that big financial blow!

Your the Idiot that doesn't know that the restaurant is responsible for you being sick ergo you should have sued thus leading to you not having to pay the bill and maybe you even get some nice pocket change.

That does sound pretty expensive to me, but I'm from the cheap midwest. Maybe the OP lives in California or some other expensive place. They did get IVs, after all. And the tests... maybe they thought he/she had salmonella or something. And I'm not blaming the person for ordering a cheap item. Maybe they were out running errands and got hungry? It's not a sin to eat at a restaurant, you know, even if you don't have much money. Not having health insurance sucks, though. I lost my job, so I have a crappy individual plan that doesn't cover much and costs me over $100 a month. I won't go uninsured and I'm fortunate enough to have enough in savings to carry me for a little while, but I understand how others might have to go without.
