Today, I went to clean my cat's litter box, not realizing she was in it. As I lifted the top half of the litter box up, she sprayed me with piss. FML

I had a cat that, if there was anything at all in her litter box - she would shit on the floor next to it. But if she saw you scoop it, she'd get mad you were touching her stuff so - you guessed it - she'd shit on the floor next to it. Cats are awesome :)

cats actually have less problems with spraying when the box doesn't have a cover. you don't see some cats hiding in a cave while they pee. they want to be seen while marking their territory.

Get a high sided corner litter box, not an enclosed one. It's healthier for the cat to have to not breathe in the litter and urine.
