DUDE!!! 36p??? why so much? go to tescos, 15p jaffas, just as good as the mcvities ones
YDI. the dog would just shit it out, and even if theres a little chocolate or something on the inside of the wrapper, it wouldnt be enough to kill him. the idea that dogs will die from eating chocolate has been grossly exaggerated. a dog would have to eat a substantial amount to get ill, so no worries (:
It is true that the idea that dogs will die from eating chocolate has been grossly exaggerated, but A. The wrapper could block the dog's digestive tract and B. Too much chocolate WILL kill a dog, for the reason that they can't digest some of the ingredients in the chocolate and if dogs have too much, those few ingredients will clog the digestive tract, and, as a result, the dog would die of starvation.
It's actually because of the caffeine. If you can't digest something, you shit it out. It doesn't just sit in your digestive tract going, OMFG WHERE DO I GO NOW?!
Underwhelmed, when the ancient long-necked dinosaurs ate trees they would also consume rocks to help crush all the branches and leaves to help them digest the branches and leaves. It's also the reason for cows having four stomachs, they will chew on it for hours, quite literally puke it into their mouth, chew on that, over and over again, until they can finally digest it. At least, I believe that's true. There are definitely things animals cannot digest without doing things like the dinosaurs and cows, so I would not be surprised if a dog cannot eat chocolate.
That's because it was branches. And leaves. Not tiny bits that are in chocolate. Dogs cannot eat chocolate because of the caffeine content. Google it. "In addition to a high fat content, chocolate contains caffeine and theobromine, two different types of stimulants that affect the central nervous system and the heart muscle, as well as increasing the frequency of urination."
I think what you mean, dancelover, is theobromine, which is a chemical in cocoa similar to caffeine that dogs cannot metabolize the way humans can, so it can build up to toxic levels and affect the central nervous system. It has nothing to do with digestion, but I see now where you were going with it.
Personally, I am extremely surprised that many Americans don't know the currency in Britain. I know that they use pounds over there, and I am an American 12-year-old girl. It's understandable that we (Americans) don't know what jaffa cakes are, because most Americans on this site probably haven't studied Britain or England extensively (not quite sure that fits here, correct me if I am mistaken) enough to know about different foods, specifically.
Well to be quite honest, jaffa cakes were only big in around 2006, I cannot remember them being big for long. In England they are now quite an obsolete snack. To be fair, I would not know an American snack from 2006-ish. Anyway, in my opinion, you're not missing out on much by not eating a jaffa cake. ;P
Why take the dog to the vet? So he ate a plastic wrapper... big deal. One time I was shoveling dog crap in the yard and I found an entire plastic shopping bag bound into one of the turds. Gee, I wonder how that got there?
i would just like to represent the americans who have lived abroad and to whom this makes perfect sense. though i didn't realize lidl was all across europe, i've only been to them in nordic countries. that's neat. :) incidentally, OP, that is a bummer. jaffa cakes are awesome but definitely not worth that much money.
I liked this FML. Well, I'm sorry for the OP and his dog, but before just now I had no idea what a Jaffa cake was. I'll add that to my permanent memory banks, since I have a particular love for English things. I certainly don't claim to know everything, but I do try to learn what little I can. They sound delicious. I wonder if there's a way to get my hands on some at a reasonable price over here in America... Any ideas?
Ebay. :P
YOU ARE ALL STUPID!!! this person said when he went to pick up the WRAPPER his dog had ate it. THE WRAPPER! NOT THE JAFFA CAKES!!!! PLASTIC WRAPPING CAN HURT ANY LIVING CREATURES INTESTINES!!! learn to read you bunch of morons. "when i wen to pick up the wrapper, the dog had eaten it." WRAPPER! NOT JAFFA CAKES!!
