Today, I went to my first job interview in months. Just minutes in, a sudden huge, uncontrollable sneeze overcame me. A wad of snot flew out onto my shirt, which I didn't even notice until the visibly disgusted interviewer pointed it out. FML

Pressing your tongue against the roof of your mouth when you're about to sneeze will stop it. It's worked every time for me. Though, I suppose that information would have been more useful BEFORE the interview.

Honestly, that sucks, but people sneeze, and sometimes snot comes out as well. As disgusting as it is, a truly impartial interviewer would realize that you're human, and wouldn't let it affect their decision. If it makes you feel any better, the first time Jennifer Lawrence met Francis Lawrence (her new boss, director of Catching Fire) she spit egg right into his mouth. And she's still wildly successful.

I agree. We are all human. No one is perfect, OP. Everyone has had snot fly! Although not the ideal situation, I hope it didn't decrease your chances of getting the job.

That's why you cover your face when you sneeze.

It might've made things worse if you were applying for a job working with food

You should have said it was hair gel and rubbed it through your hair

Really? Hair gel that just flew out of her nose?

This wouldn't of happened if you had the common decency to cover your mouth when you sneeze.... YDI

Not sure why this is being thumbed down. This was exactly my thoughts. She could have just covered mouth.
