zeeman2015 tells us more.
hey guys, OP here. I would like to say thanks for the support on this post. So as for breaking up, it went as smoothly as I could hope for. She was kind enough to answer all of my "but why" questions and the candy was some of our shared favorites. I guess I should have seen the breakup coming but I was in serious denial for a few months. We are still on talking terms and are separating peacefully but it doesn't suck or hurt any less.. As for why it happened on our anniversary? It wasn't really planned in any way to be on that day. it just... played out like that. I know this sounds dumb but it was the first time we had gotten to speak at length in over a month. I hope this clears up any questions.. Thanks again for the support ya'll show

I've been a jerk many times in my life, but what kind of shitty person breaks up with someone on their anniversary.
Well look at it this way.. now he only has one day a year that was significant to their relationship to feel sad about it.
Damn, and on your anniversary. Sorry bro
If it wasn't meant to be it wasn't meant to be...
That sounds like such an imaginative gift! I hope you find someone sooner or later for a more sustainable relationship that you can pour your heart and creative talents into.
Don't worry with time it will get better. I'm sure someone as romantic and creative as you will find a wonderful girl who loves and appreciates you
hey,life is sometimes bitterSWEET :)
Very sorry op...

She either went out and bought you candy (to cheer you up?!??) or she just gave you some leftover pity candy Either way that is harsh.
That's horrid she could've at least waited a little longer or done it sooner
