How broke are you? How do you afford to eat every day? You might was to consider getting a job. Maybe something like prostitution, er, I mean escorting. I mean, c'mon, using a card to pay for a single stamp?
You don't even have 57 cents in your account? wowww **** this recession
poorcollegestudent, i know how embarrassing it is. I was in the store buying a packet of stamps, with a line of people behind me. The cashier ran my debit card along the swipe machine, and turns out i only could afford to buy one stamp. MOST. EMBARRASSING. MOMENT. EVER!!!
Check your account. Perhaps your parents withdrew money under the table? I had the opposite happen to me. I was *not* keeping track of my spending, and my parents were secretly adding money to my account. I thought I had rationed out $100 for the whole year, but in reality I spent over $1000.
i hear ya
ydi for using your debit card on anything less the 5 dollars. Who the hell goes to the candy store, buys a lollipop and uses a debit card... same principle. Asif you wouldn't birng at least a dollar in ur purse/wallet.
sometimes the bank will not allow the card to be used if there is $10 or less in the account. So doesn't necessarily mean you didn't have enough to buy postage... although you still are pretty damn broke. YDI for not checking up on your balance.

One time when I was 16, I wrote a check and got charged 30 dollars by the bank for overdrawing my account. What was the magical purchase? A soda... for $1.05. Life lesson learned: learn to balance your account! So you'll have money to spend, even for silly things like stamps, sodas, or whatever.
You used a debit card to buy one stamp!? I'm surprised they'd even consider accepting it.
