You would be right to leave that community. If he actually believed what he was preaching, he would welcome the skeptic. Anyone truly founded in any belief, whether religious or not, will welcome the honest skeptic.
That's not how religion is supposed to work. Sounds like a lazy priest.
Welcome to religion. I received the same treatment when I went to bible classes.
Well played! Now you don't have to go back to Sunday School because you are not allowed. This way, you can have a free mind. If you really want to learn more about religion, start by reading books, lots of them. Then, seek out a church that cares about nurturing your soul's intellect.
"This is the problem with religion" no it's not. It's the problem with people who are taught incorrectly. I'm pretty sure this is going to get down voted, but it's the truth.
I think the real FML here is that you ever had to go to Sunday School at all.
I was raised catholic. After I graduated high school, I purchased a Bible and started reading it. I found some stuff out and went to the church and asked the Priest some questions about stuff I read that did not agree with what is being preached/taught. The Priest got very angry, got up, turned around and walked away never to be seen again. Good Luck.

Welcome to the basis of religion
The problem with religion in a nutshell. At least with science it's acknowledged that information could be proven wrong at a later date instead of saying "the is the answer for now and forever, and if you question it you are a bad person."
