That's actually not how religion works, at my church we are encouraged to question the Bible and find the answers, so we actually know who and what we are worshipping. This isn't the basis of religion or the problem in a nutshell and more of an idiotic and prideful priest who makes others look bad
Would you say it's important to point out hypocrisy in the Bible or not?
Reminds me of something the Buddha once (reputedly) said: "Faith is the blind leading the blind."
I don't know what kind of church you went to, but at least in the Episcopal church, you are encouraged to question teachings, as it can help you further understand and get more involved
We are episcopal too :)
As a ex Christian this sounds about right and hence I left religion in favor of atheism. I don't want to be a mindless sheep following something I can't question.
I'd say ; win-win
That basically sums up religion for ya
You can always convert to Judaism, where the pursuit of knowledge is a fundamental to our values. Shalom!
How hard is it to convert? (Just curious)
for a man you'd need to get circumcised. for a woman I'm not sure, sorry.
sometimes I honestly feel like priests know that religion is BS but they tell everyone to just believe it anyway.
Question EVERYTHING! I did, and still found faith. And science ??

Welcome to the basis of religion
The problem with religion in a nutshell. At least with science it's acknowledged that information could be proven wrong at a later date instead of saying "the is the answer for now and forever, and if you question it you are a bad person."
