Why are you assuming the OP is American? It doesn't say where she's from.
Don't worry, as a US citizen, you're exempt from the local sovereign laws of a country provided you personally didn't realise it was a completely different place from another country that was vaguely in the same direction.
you're really that stupid?
nice planning, bro!
that sucks! you should have punched the airport ppl! though that wouldn't have helped.... FYL
You should have checked the rules when you were booking it. Many places say you have to have at least 6 months left on your passport to enter the country unless it is your home country. Hopefully it'll teach you a lesson for next time you go anywhere. Having said that, I hope it got sorted out.
That sucks, maybe it was your passport photo that put them off. Remember to not blink when they are taking those photos, you learnt a lesson. High five.
so if you've known you were going for a year, why didn't you check before and get your passport renewed? :/
That's NOT what OP said. Re-read the post. It was a 3-WEEK vacation that she had been PLANNING for a year. Ugh.

Yeap. it's true. It's ridiculous but true your passport can't be within 6 months of expiring. Real ****** up!!
Why the hell does that matter? I could see if it expired 6 months ago, but what the hell?
