Today, I went to the emergency room for a broken collarbone. This wouldn’t be so bad if my parents hadn’t paid $20,000 for me to go to a snowboarding academy all winter. Today was day one. FML

Today, I discovered that the pain I've had for the past couple of weeks was actually due to a broken collar bone. Now work won't pay for the treatment I need because I continued to work despite the pain. FML

Today, I went skiing. On the first run of the day, a little girl came out of nowhere and crashed into me. I was fine, but she was hurt, so I called the ski patrol. She told him that I deliberately hit her, and got me kicked out. I was there for 10 minutes. I paid for all day. FML

Today, I had to go to the emergency room in the middle of the night. Even though they know I don't have any money, let alone shoes on my feet, my parents have decided it's far too much trouble to come pick me up because we're on vacation and they want to have fun. FML

Today, my family and I were just about to leave the house for the vacation that I had been saving up for 3 years. I was coming down the stairs with a heavy suitcase and I tripped and fell breaking my leg, now my family's gone without me while I'm in hospital. I paid for the vacation. FML

Today, I'm in Mexico and am supposed to be skydiving for my Christmas gift. Instead, I'm coming out of the hospital with x-rays, an ankle splint, and a $800 bill because I fell on the bottom step of a flight of stairs. FML

Today, I was studying on a bench outside my dorm when the leg snapped. I decided to do the right thing and let administration know what happened. After assuring me it wasn't my fault, and having me fill out an incident report, they billed me $400. I can't enroll for next semester until I pay. FML

$20,000 is a ridiculous amount of money to spend on snowboarding lessons, even for a whole winter. I'm a ski instructor and we charge nowhere near that much...

I’m sure the academy has faced that situation before. I’m sure you’ll spend the rest of the semester making kick-ass arts and crafts in the ski lodge. Or perhaps, hot chocolate and flaming rum toddies for your non-klutz classmates?

Most families cannot afford spending $20,000 for a few months of fun for the children, so FYL for not being able to enjoy something you have been looking forward to, but at the same time, it doesn't sound that bad - in the sense that if your parents are willing to spend that much money for a snowboarding academy, I am sure they will be willing to spend a lot for you to do something else that is broken collarbone friendly.

OMG $20G!? Are you aware that this amount is the annual salary of many people? For $575 I went to a boarding trip upstate NY (Smuggler’s Notch) and the best part... wait for it *drum roll*, lodging and lift tickets are included for 4 nights and 5 days!! I can’t even fathom any parents paying twenty thousand dollars for boarding, lessons... or I just know the wrong people.

boo freakin' hoo... if your parents have money to spend on that crap I don't think it matters other then you will miss out on some fun... i know broke ass people snow boarding down street slopes after ice storms on trash can lids... freakin snowboard camp spoiled ass rich people... sheesh...
