Today, I woke up seeing my neighbor's 5-year-old daughter next to me. She said good morning and handed me a note from her dad saying that I owe him and he's cashing in. So, I'm babysitting as her parents escape to the Bahamas for 2 weeks. My annual 2 weeks vacation starts today too. FML

Report for child abandonment. With there being no prior agreement, you have no obligation to care for their child. They abandoned their child by leaving them behind to vacation in the Bahamas.

how did she get into the house?? why do you owe him? did he leave the day you got the note without agreeing?? so many questions

Don't accept any favors from them ever again...

Is he the local drug dealer or something?

ask her if she wants to paint her house then go to the art supply store then when the ****** gets back hand the girl the receipt and tell to say you suck as a parent now pay my babysitting fee

wait 12 hours, until they are settled and relaxed. Then start sending messages about how you had to leave town for an emergency 18 hours before and won't be back for 2 weeks, asking them to check on your house like a good neighbor because you think you left the door unlocked. Wait for them to fly home in a panic thinking they left their child alone in an empty house.

Wow this is either really ****** up or there is far more to this story needs a follow-up.🤔

Child abandonment? Cops? Calm down people. I figure, most likely they are besties or the kid would not feel so at ease in OP's home and her dad would not have a key. Plus I like to think nobody would leave their kid with a near-stranger. Maybe OP actually did owe for a favor so huge he couldn't have refused this, and doing it as a surprise is part of an epic prank war they have going on. Let's not upraise our pitchforks and light our torches til we hear deets.

good point but I think leaving a child for two weeks without discussing things before hand with the babysitter I really not ok. it puts the child in some danger as provisions haven't been made by the babysitter

Well, do you actually owe him? Regardless, parents should not do that to their kids. That's child abandonment for sure.

Sounds like a plot story a young Macaulay Culkin would’ve been interested in
