Today, I yawned so hard that I dislocated my jaw completely, then had to ask to be excused from class in front of 30 people with my mouth hanging open. FML

Op here. Well folks, after an interesting chat with a Doc, turns out I don't have TMJ or EDS. I just eat way to much ******* chewing gum, and, after so much, my jaw was slightly moved out of place. So when I yawned, it fell out of place completely, thus the dislocation. FML again, I guess

I have done that and it hurts in a special like of way (plus you can't even really scream or cry just kind of wail in despair). I was home alone (with food poisoning- and yes, that's why it dislocated). It was my first week in a new apartment and a new city and I didn't know anyone and couldn't call for help. I eventually got it back in but I'm SUPER careful now about not opening too wide. Traumatized me for life.

Hey op does this happen often? Ask your doctor about ehlers danlos. If you are bendy (or sometimes even not!) you can have this. They tested me by twisting my knee/elbow, having me put my thumb to the inside of my wrist, and putting my palms together behind me. I hope it doesnt happen again!

I have Elhers-Danlos and I've done this a few times! Gets kinda embarrassing after the fourth time. People make a lot of bubble wrap jokes about me.

At least you don't have EDS or TMJ! Those suck! Less chewing gum is a lot cheaper and less painful to fix :)
