Today, having made absolutely sure I wouldn't have work until 4 p.m., I slept peacefully to recover from staying up till 5 a.m. to watch my country in the World Cup. Until at 8 a.m., someone on the floor above started drilling. No one has done any drilling day or night in the last six months. FML

Today, after 5 hours of attempting to sleep, I began to finally drift off. Then, some fuckwit who'd parked his car right outside my door took 20 minutes to switch his alarm off. I have to be up in about 4 hours, after a 12-hour night shift, heading into another. FML

Today, just like every workday for the last 6 months, the construction workers in my building made loud noises in the morning and woke me up almost 2 hours before I would otherwise have to get up. This will continue for one more year. I'm not a morning person, and I live in a protected historical building. FML

Today, while trying to sleep after a night shift, workers came to hook up city sewage service, firing up drills and shouting. An hour later, my child woke me up to tattle on her sister. Just as I was drifting to sleep yet again, the smoke alarm battery started chirping. I give up. FML

That sucks! Everyone knows those minutes are the most crucial and decide between feeling refreshed and ready to take on the world, and slamming the snooze button on your alarm clock five times in a row until you realize you're gonna be late for work.

yes its 5 minutes but those 5 minutes mean alot if one hasnt slept much. ive been through that it totally sucks, it makes you feel more drowsy than anything.

Things like this are so horrible... I have delayed sleep phase (in short it means my sleep cycle is totally screwed up) and very often I'll end up falling asleep just as everyone else in my house wakes up, so this kind of thing happens daily for me. And those are just noises like someone using the shower or voices in the next room, if someone was drilling right outside my window I'd shoot them.
