Today, it's Christmas Eve. I was the happiest ever realizing that all the bills are paid, all the presents are bought, all the food is ready, and I still have some money left. This my biggest accomplishment so far as a young adult. Until I realized I don't have a tree. Adulting is hard. FML

Today, for the first time ever, my family bought a real Christmas tree instead of using our old fake one. Today, I also found out I'm allergic to Christmas trees. My family won't get rid of it because they paid so much for it and intend to "get their money's worth". FML

Today, my family and I were decorating the Christmas tree. It seemed a bit unstable, but we decorated it without any problems. Later, while my daughter sat by the tree, it began to fall. Her grandmother stopped the tree from hitting her. I, on the other hand, screamed like a little girl. I'm a 38 year old guy. FML

Today, I used my Christmas holiday time to open up a load of old letters. There were a lot of bills, of course, but there was also a note telling me that I'm due for a tax inspection. Merry F*ing Christmas! FML

Today, I waited anxiously until midnight to open my Christmas presents. As the clock struck midnight, I ran out into the living room, super-excited to open them, only to discover that everyone in our house had already opened theirs, and had all gone to bed. FML

I'm torn between stealing your idea for next Christmas and keeping my usual light-up fake tree. (That said...fake trees are the bomb. And some are light-up. You don't have to put up ornaments unless you want to.)

Thats not too bad. I only gave out a few gifts this year, because money is tight. My "tree" is a small potted plant with decorations that someone gifted me. I still had a lovely holiday. It's the people you spend it with that make it meaningful.

how does not having a tree make "adulting" hard. you said you still have money left over so go buy you a tree and put it up. you ate in a very good position considering a lot of people cannot afford to spend money on presents
