Today, it was my first day at my new job, which requires you to wear a special shirt. Come to find out, they only have medium sized shirts. I'm an XL. They demanded I wear the shirt anyway. FML

Just because he wears an XL shirt does not in any way mean the guy is fat. He could have broad shoulders or muscular arms. Or maybe just be fit and like the extra room. Most built guys where L or XL shirts and even if he had a tummy so what. A medium is too small for most guys to be wearing anyway.

Pssht, you should have "worn" it on one arm, or as a bandana, or something like that. Just in case their store policy isn't specific enough for that eventuality, which is a good possibility.

That pretty much sucks :/ Is it really that hard tfor them to order an XL shirt or something? hmm.

I would have told em to jam thier job where the sun don't shine!

You guys are idiots if he was in good shape and not FAT this wouldn't be an fml. People who are in good shape don't have to worry if a shirts too tight.

Man because nothing feels like like having muscle and a freakishly tight shirt on.

Show it anyway

I'm sorry, but there is NO way you fit into a men's small. I'm 5'2" on a good day, 115 pounds, and I fit into a men's small perfectly - AND I'M A FEMALE. So unless you have no arms and don't have to worry about your shoulders fitting into a shirt, there's no way you're serious. Maybe you're the fat ass and your mama has been changing your shirts tags to make you feel better about yourself :)

That had to be one of the most IDIOTIC and PITIFUL things I've ever read. By the look of it, you must be a big ole' fatty who goes on the internet all day and looks up MEANINGLESS statistics. Therefore, shut the **** up you closet fatty. No one here cares if you are fat or not, YET you feel the need to advertise that you "aren't fat," which leads me to believe you are.

rye274, I'm 5'2 and 110 pounds and a mens small would be big on me. I wear womens smalls and extra smalls and even smalls are big on me sometimes. So don't be so quick to criticize others just because you have a muffin top.

Actually, average male is 5'10" in this day and age. Besides that, there is no way in God's green earth you fit a men's small at 5'11" and 160lbs, because my brother, at 6'3" and 150lbs, could not fit a men's medium without it being practically skintight. Now that he weighs 190 (all muscle; he's in the Army), he probably couldn't fit his arm into the sleeve of a small. So, you're a moron.

there's no way that's right ry274, i'm 5'5 and 125 and i can still fit into a BOY's L or XL. so i'm sure the men's small is big on you.

Hey asshole I'm 5'9 and 165 and a medium is usually tight on me. Every single person is built differently. Yeah a lot of Americans are fat but there is no proof the OP is. Good for you that you can wear a small, but that is no real comparison to say the OP is fat.

Oh snap that really sucks. Don't work till they get you one your size

XL doesn't mean fat. Anyone who's tall and has any muscle would have to wear an XL. The only people I know who can wear a medium are under 6" and stick thin. Unless they do something to remedy the situation (like order you a new shirt as soon as they can), you can likely file a discrimination claim against them. Of course, if it's just a crappy job, it's probably not worth the effort.

"Anyone who's tall and has any muscle would have to wear an XL. The only people I know who can wear a medium are under 6" and stick thin." You have no idea what you're talking about. I know guys who are about 5'10 and have a lot of muscle (still in the "looks good" range, not the "looks disgusting with the veins exploding out of their body") and wear SMALLS. Maybe if he's like 6'5 and in good shape he'd wear a large. Unless he's a body builder, he's not an XL unless he's fat.

Repeating what I said above. Older brother. In the Army. 6'3", 190lbs of muscle (and the lad has never had any fat to his name, so I know it's all muscle). Cannot fit a medium. Usually wears a large, but in certain styles prefers an extra large (such as polo shirts).

u all thought he was fat but maybe he's just really muscular

or he is FAT and thats the reason this is an fml. If he was muscular his life would not be f'd but this is an FML because he's FAT and has to wear a tight shirt that shows his rolls

why is everyone from america fat?

The OP can't be the first person ever who wasn't a M shirt, so probably that store was just temporarily out of XLs. And if the company is big enough to have designed and purchased a custom shirt design and have an official rule about wearing them, your manager didn't want to risk his own job by not following the rules. To the OP: Have you tried calling nearby branches of this chain to see if any have a spare XL that you can pick up or have shipped to your store? BTW, when there is a pile of men's shirts in various sizes, the first ones to go will be the XLs, and the small and medium shirts will linger around practically forever. Check the clearance racks at any department store.
