Today, it was my twenty-first birthday, and a couple of friends took me out to celebrate. After ordering us shots throughout the night, my friends took off abruptly, leaving me with my very first bar tab. FML

I originally wrote this FML :( haha you just worded it better than me. My friends stuck me with a 500 dollar bar tab.

Happy birthday! But I'm sorry. That really sucks.

What dicks! Invite them again, drink as much as you can and go home and leave the tab to them

Turning of age= free drinks for friends, right?

He lives in Finland, you can drink/go clubbing etc here when you turn 18.

They're not your mates. Real mates wouldn't do that, even if it was a joke.

Lol you'll learn to tip bar tenders and not pay for alcohol

I love you!! Haha you are one of those guys who get the beers for free but leaves a twenty dollar on the bar. We bar tenders love people like you!

What kind of a bar you visited? Must've been high-class because you usually pay when you get the drinks, not after drinking them.

#24. actually bar tabs are quite common. The bars you go to and pay as you order probably do them as well. But it's more usual now to pay for drinks as you buy them instead of setting up a tab.

Wrong. They'll set up a tab unless they ask you or you ask them to bring the check.

I drink in a dive bar and you can run a tab if you are paying via card. They hold onto your card and just charge you when you are ready to leave and give you back your card.

With friends like them, who needs enemies?

I'd just be laughing inside that there are actually people that don't know their own language.

Welcome to adulthood! Just the first of many screwings you will be receiving as a grown-up. I always tell kids to enjoy childhood and try not to become adults too quickly. Do you think they listen?!?!

No, Perdix, they won't listen. But excellent advice :-).
