Today, just one month after giving me a bracelet with an infinity symbol on it for Christmas, my boyfriend of three years ended everything out of the blue. That was a short infinity. FML

I'm sorry to hear that. On one hand it's horrible for him to end it without giving you any reason as to why, but on the other hand maybe you really wouldn't want to hear the reasons. Even so I guess it's always nicest to know the truth so you can get proper closure. Good luck with everything :(

WOW so he put you in infinite pain....bad BF

There was probably a reason why he ended it. things can change over even one month.

Agreed. Also, he never said it was a promise bracelet or something. Infinity symbols are a fad. They're on everything.

Indeed it can relationships can be weird sometimes. My ex broke up with me the next morning after have a couple hour long nice phone call. The world just may never know sometimes.

Which is why I don't care for infinity symbol stuff. #17

I'm sure he had his reasons, still though, sorry OP. 3 years is a long time to just have it end suddenly like that.

tell him to go divide it by zero ;)

I agree with you, knowing the reason can make things worse. I've just been through the same thing, left without any closure. But if they leave you like that, that means they didn't deserve you in the first place OP. I know closure is important, but they're not worth the pain anymore. Stay strong OP! OP did not say without giving reason. Out of the blue means suddenly, not that a reason wasn't given.

Well that's reassuring, OP won't be in pain forever !

He's not a bad boyfriend for breaking up with her

If you do that to a person, give him or her a gift that symbolizes togetherness forever and then break up with them...Thats bad

Things and people change. Op got an infinity symbol, you realize how many engagements break up or divorces happen? It sucks, but it happens. Most people think the person they're with will be forever but shit happens. Welcome to the real world, people break up.

Maybe it felt like it was out of the blue for you, but he might have been thinking about it for a while and you might not have noticed.

But he could Tell her the reason or not?

I don't think OP's boyfriend never told her the reason? The way I interpreted it is that she was shocked by him breaking up with her. I do believe she deserves to know why!

I find it a bit weird though that he'd give her an infinite bracelet if he was already thinking about breaking up with her... I know they're a fad, but there's still obvious symbolism so it seems silly on his part especially when there are thousands of other things to choose from. Not horrible of him, he could be very nice, just a bit thoughtless. Maybe I just put too much weight on symbolism though.

Sorry to hear that OP. Although he probably had his reasons, it was still a d*ck move. I hope everything looks up for you soon, you deserve happiness. :3

So now even breaking up with someone is a dick move? OP's "out of the blue" could have been his "I've been dropping hints I wasn't happy for months!" There's no real way to know what happened unless OP comments, and even then, we're only hearing one side of the story. Besides, how are people ever going to comment on FMLs if they can't tell people to break up?

#19: you misunderstand. Breaking up isn't generally a d*ck move, but if it was really "out of the blue" as OP said, then it kinda was one. BUT, like I also mentioned, I'm sure the guy had his reasons for the breakup.

Some things just can't be talked out so even if it was out of the blue I don't really see it as a dick move. And some people will be oblivious even when there are problems.

"some infinities are bigger than others"

sadly, everything has an expiration date. Hope you get the strength needed to overcome this.

I guess it's vodka and honey. Which also doesn't have an expiration date. They recovered some from one of the pyramids, as I recall, still good. In related news, I found a couple of packets of KD in the cold room two years ago. With an expiry date of 03/02. March 2002 or February 2001 isn't a signiicant difference. Out of curiosity I opened them. The noodles were grey and evil looking. But that powder still had that bright radioactive orange glow. I dipped a finger to test it, and it was fine. I threw out the noodles, used some rotini to replace it and yep. Still good.
