Who do you work for, the Americans? Don't worry... in about ten years the Chinese will enslave us and we will work in coal mines to pay off our governments debt. So you will eventually be working no matter what.

I feel your pain. Last year around the holidays I was promised a raise and promotion by not only my head manager, but also the district manager. The DM said it would go into effect after the holiday season. When I asked him about it in January, he said it wasn't going to happen because the company was closing the store in 2 weeks. He also told everyone we'd get severance but that wasn't true either. It was so frustrating! Hope you find a new, better job soon.
