That's not necessary. What if she did it on the phone and the OP didn't want to return the key card? And prolong returning it?

I suppose they would just invalidate its credentials, and the company would have to eat the $0.05 - $50.00(depending on what kind of authentication it was). I agree on the face-to-face, its more respectful and professional. But the drive is still obnoxious.
