Hey, once she has to start paying your bills maybe she'll reconsider...
A mothers tough love can be a mans best friend, now slap into a slim Jim dig it.
What a **** you are sending your parents off to live with people they don't know in their final years. They gave you life show respect.
You must have done something to warrant getting fired. YDI for thinking you could do whatever you wanted just because your mom was your boss.
That sucks. I work for a family business as well, where my mom is the boss. Mixing blood and business is always tricky. I hope you guys get through this, because I've been there before. Good luck, OP!
Sometimes people need to learn to manage on their own, before they can join the family business properly.
Mom got you the job because you're her kid but you only "keep it" if you earn the position.
I'm surprised at how many comments are based on assumptions that can't accurately be made from the small amount of information provided. Most comments either assume that OP's job performance was inadequate, or that OP's mom fired him/her unfairly, but perhaps neither of those are true. It could be that OP was a very competent employee, but the business is doing poorly and couldn't afford to keep him/her employed. Or maybe OP was a fine employee, but committed some transgression against the family outside of the work place that led to the firing. I'm sure many of us would be interested to hear more about the circumstances before we vote.
If it was because they couldn't afford to keep him on, that'd be termed "getting laid off" instead of "getting fired." The terminology implied that it was due to some wrongdoing on OP's part.

Just because she's your mom doesn't mean you get special treatment. If one of my kids worked for me and they weren't up to par, yeah I'll can them. Welcome to the real world.
You don't deserve special treatment just because you're family, OP. If you don't work hard there are plenty of people who need jobs who are willing to take your place.
