Today, my boyfriend, and best friend, had baked a cake, and wouldnt tell anyone who it was for. When I asked he said I'd know soon. He met me after class to break up with me and offered me the cake to make me feel better. FML

Why do women (in the comments) act like a guy breaking up with you means he's a douchebag. Nowhere does it say that he was an asshole, or broke up with her to **** her best friend. All it says is he broke with her and made her a cake to help her feel better. SO WHAT! Would you rather him stayed with her until he was so unhappy that he did resort to ******* her best friend?!

Should have shoved the cake in his face.

Okay, uh... #152 is either an asshole or an over-enthusiastic feminist. Well, he could possibly be both. Actually, it's rather likely he is both. Anyway, on to better matters. The guy was probably meaning the cake as a parting gift to try to make you understand that it hurts him as well. He may not have said "Sorry, but it's not working out," in the right way, but if he just wanted to break up with you, he would have done something less time and effort consuming, like not said anything at all or broke up with you in an email or text.

I really hope you threw the cake at him and your so called best friend.

OP your boyfriend is nice, get over it

Break up cake is amazing! Almost as good as break up sex. Actually, I can't decide which I would rather have...

He baked you a cake. Ungrateful. Pisses me off that any guy breaking up with a girl (and, actually, sometimes vice versa) for any reason is such a horrible thing to do - you know, because continuing unhappy relationships is healthy.

#160 - agreed. Breakups suck, sure, but they happen all the time and the fact is sometimes it's just the best thing to do. A breakup doesn't really count as an FML except in certain circumstances, and OP's situation is certainly not one of them. In fact, this is probably the *least* FML-worthy breakup story I've ever heard.

wow im sorry thats so ****** up.... ure best friend was in on it too?! super bull!
