Today, my boyfriend, and best friend, had baked a cake, and wouldnt tell anyone who it was for. When I asked he said I'd know soon. He met me after class to break up with me and offered me the cake to make me feel better. FML

Why do women (in the comments) act like a guy breaking up with you means he's a douchebag. Nowhere does it say that he was an asshole, or broke up with her to **** her best friend. All it says is he broke with her and made her a cake to help her feel better. SO WHAT! Would you rather him stayed with her until he was so unhappy that he did resort to ******* her best friend?!

I'm hoping that he was really, really trying to be thoughtful. Knowing that you would be hurt, he tried to show he still cared about you. I'm sorry it didn't make you feel any better, and in fact seems to have made things worse for you. Just goes to show there aren't really that many ways to break up easily. (Which reminds me: has anyone seen that episode in Coupling where the person being dumped simply doesn't accept?)

All of you people who are telling the OP to kick him in the nuts or throw the cake in his face.... Congratulations, you've all proven you've the maturity of two year olds. The guy probably felt bad about having to break up with her, so he made her a cake in an attempt to help her feel better. Anyone who calls him a douchebag is about as intelligent as a tree stump. Yes, break ups suck. But they happen- it's an inevitability. OP, be happy that this boyfriend at least cared enough to offer you that small gesture.

Honestly. Just because he broke up with her doesn't make him a douchebag. people break up all the time, it happens. maybe the relationship wasn't working out, in which case, its good that he ended it. and if someone were going to break up with me, I'd rather get a cake out of it :)

I don't get why everyone's saying he's such a douche...I mean, ya it sucks that he broke up with you and all, but there's no sense in continuing a relationship if it's not working out. Better that he dump you now rather than pretending to like you and leading you on for a few more months before it finally comes out. And seriously, at least he gave some serious thought to your feelings about it. I mean, seriously he baked you a cake to try to soften the blow? That shows real heart. He may not be in love with you anymore, but clearly he still cares a lot about you as a friend. I can think of a lot worse ways he could have gone about it.
