Today, my boyfriend and I arrived at our pre-paid hotel for a romantic evening. When we went to sign in, they had no reservation for us, however they did yesterday. The payment is non-refundable. FML

I understand OP saying FML if it's her fault, but if it's the hotels fault? Cause a scene and make all hell break loose. Hotels can't get away with that kinda shit.

This is a YDI. If there was a question about the date it would be a call to the customer service desk and an FYL until you got your room plus comped a day and maybe under the circumstances a bottle of Crystal and strawberries.

seriously? you expect the hotel to comp her for her mistake? speaking from experience if the room was booked on the wrong day then it is 99 times out of 100 the guests fault. no doubt she will complain and undeservedly get her money back

You must have some sort of receipt of the payment, so this should be easily sorted.

If it was your mistake, it is a YDI since you should have been more careful with the booking (though I find it strange that the hotel did not call to make sure you still wanted the room when you did not arrive on time). BUT if it was the hotel's mistake, they should be the one paying. I hope you have evidence if that is the case!

Have protest sex in the lobby, Hanging the "do not disturb" sign on your boyfriend's "Howard Johnson." Don't forget about the free continental breakfast.

ohh that happened with my parents and a restaurant. not fun.

yeah, that's what you get for booking prepaid. I managed a hotel for years and that happened constantly. especially with expedia or Travelocity, and no phone number shows up on the reservation that the hotel receives. and if you read fine print, it states on those websites that they aren't responsible for mixed up reservations and you aren't guaranteed the room type you select. just the price. it sucks., but ydi.

If the hotel put the day in wrong then I suggest you let your bitch side out and get your money back. You should have a conformation email or something telling you which days you had reserved. To everyone saying well maybe you didn't show up on time, I don't understand. I've never reserved a room and been told that I have to show up at a certain time. I've been told that I can't show up till after say 3:00pm and that I need to be out by 12:00pm on my last day but I could show up at 9:00pm and my room would still be there. Especially since it was already paid for. If i didn't prepay for the room and they didn't have my cc# then I can see why they'd give it away. In this case it was prepaid for so they can't legally give away the room just because they didn't show up at a certain time. I'm not sure whether this is a FYL or a YDI. . . You should have an email or something confirming your dates. If the dates didn't match what you wanted then its your fault for not double checking. If they do match the dates you chose then obviously they will have to give you a refund or offer you a room equal to what you bought or better.

If OP and her boyfriend only booked the hotel room for one night and then showed up after check out from the previous night, they would have completely missed their reservation and somebody else could have possible gotten it already.

actaully you can use the room again after the reservation day. they arrived the next day so unless it is the hotels fault which is unlikely in this type of situation they do not need to move the reservation forward

That seems... Kind of stupid, honestly. If you missed the day you reserved the room for yourself, wouldn't they maybe possibly have another customer waiting to get it? You know, for their own reservation?

Sure you can... if the room isn't all ready reserved by someone else. Otherwise they're S.O.L.

Don't worry OP, it's normal to miss dates! I've missed my plane once because I thought I was traveling on another date - it happens!
