Today, my boyfriend asked me to text him when I got home after driving 40 miles in bad weather from his house back to mine. When I did, he broke up with me. FML

I have to agree with the bad weather people. Maybe he should have waited, but this is far better than the potential FML "I drove 40 miles to my BF's only to have him break up with me. I was so upset when I was driving home in bad weather, I totaled my car and ended up in the hospital(or worse)."

I don't understand how others could break up with someone via texting. Just seems so cold and uncaring, to me.

My ex broke up with me over text and when I called him on it he said he did it because he cared about me so much he couldn't stand to see me upset. I told him that was bullshit. Anyone who dumps someone over text is either a pathetic coward, a straight up asshole, or more likely both. Mine was both :/

No balls plain and simple...at least you got home alright...

At the risk of sounding like an ass, maybe he just didn't want you driving upset through bad weather. After all, it would be more dangerous. But I do agree that a breakup is much more respectable in person

Well he's a dick and doesn't have any balls to do it in front of you, your better off without him

I'd have driven the 40 miles back & made him do it in person or kept texting him that I never received any response to my "at home' text & was worried about him, etc. Just to mess with him & make him squirm & force him to at least call. Dick move!

Only cowards break up over text. Sorry OP you deserve so much better

At least he cared enough to not tell you before you drove home.

I feel for you Op. My last girlfriend did a similar thing to me, except it was during our nightly phone call. This was after having me turn around 20 minutes into a 90 minute drive to go back to her place so she could retrieve something she'd left in my car...
