Being asexual doesn't necessarily mean that you don't want to be in a romantic relationship. It just means that you have no desire to ever have sex. Plenty of asexuals go on to have healthy sexless romantic relationships. Unless he is aromantic as well (he has no desire to have romantic relationships) or he felt that a sexless relationship would be unfair to you it kinda sounds like he was just looking for an excuse

You really think that all of the fighting in relationships is about sex? My first actual fight with my boyfriend as so far away from sex it was ridiculous. Or maybe you think Asexuals don't have a need for intimacy? We do, we just don't think sex is the answer.

OP, very sorry to hear of your breakup. As an asexual in a relationship with a sexual, kind of sounds like a cop out to me but I don't know the ins and outs of you guy's relationship. As for the rest of you FML forum folk. Hearing so many of you stand up for the Asexual Community really makes me happy! I've been called some really nasty things since I came out!
