From the word "finally" I figure you WANT to marry him... Shouldn't you be happy? And you know he's not a wasteful dude (it IS only one day in your life and will be topped by your child's first cry, smile, word, step,... anyways). Enjoy married life!

I think you're missing the point of the FML. Some guys propose to their girlfriends after they discover the financial benefits of having a wife (lower taxes, etc). OP probably envisioned a romantic proposal and a nice wedding. The fact that he proposed SOLELY because he has the opportunity to get married at a discount is the reason she's upset.
