Today, my boyfriend gave me an anniversary present to mark 5 years of us being together. It was a Mooncup. FML

I thought a mooncup sounded like some kind of delicious pastry before I googled it. How wrong I was.

That is how they make Bloody Marys, right?

Hello little 12 year old, you must be new to grown up life. It's ok, puberty will come eventually. *pat pat*

The great thing about the mooncup is that, if you cut the bit at the end (don't worry, no fonctionnality is lost), then you can have sex during your periods. Tthe man just have to be carefule not to be too enthusiastic, otherwise, ouch. So, basically, he bought a gift to himself.

Menstrual cups sound nasty... How do they even work? I think I'll stick to tampons...

TSS is very rare, and I'm careful about changing them. Sticking a cup up your ****** sounds painful, and keeping it in there the whole time seems unsanitary and more of a risk for TSS.

Think about it what's grosser: a stick of bleached cotton (only heaven knows what other stuff there's in it) slurping your blood or a cup made of medical grade silicone that you can sterilize whenever you want it? Not to mention that it's completely safe to keep the cup longer than a tampon since it doesn't irritate the vaginal walls as much when you change it; when I still used tampons, I dreaded changing time... No matter what size I used, I'd always feel raw by the end of the day.

You don't keep it up there the *whole* time. You're supposed to empty it out every 8 to 12 hours, wash it off, and reinsert.

I thought it was pretty comfy. I was completely traumatised with tampons and only used pads until I found soft cups/moon cup. with soft cups you can still have sex while wearing. if you put it in right you don't feel it!

There's only a risk of TSS when there are chemicals involved that are foreign to the natural pH of your ******; medical grade silicone has none of them, because, well, medical grade.

Change can be good but I think you may want to keep to your favored tampons/pads
