Today, my boyfriend of 4 years proposed to me. I said yes and he gave me an engagement ring. He immediately went to call his mom to tell her the happy news. After the phone call, he asked if he could return the ring because his mom needed money. FML

Today, I was out with my boyfriend, when he started browsing wedding rings. He found a ring, proposed to me right there in front of a crowd, and then was promptly denied a payment plan. We left without a ring. FML

Today, my boyfriend proposed with the perfect ring, restaurant, flowers, and champagne. He’s never been this well prepared for anything in his life, so he admitted that my mother planned the whole thing and forced him to propose, even though neither of us want to get married. She even bought the ring. FML

Today, my boyfriend asked me to marry him by handing me a ring and telling me, "Okay we're engaged now." I should have seen it coming when we started dating, I went to his house one night and as I was leaving he said, "Okay you're my girlfriend now." FML

wow reading these comments.. this is how i view it. yes you might still be engaged but why take the ring back?!?! find something else he LITTERLY just gave it to her. that is so wrong. find somethinf else to sell. you gave a gift you cant ask for it back. if be pissed and say no. find something else to sell. not the gift you just gave her...

I hope you dumped him. That's a major red flag that he will always put his mother before you, when you should be #1 in his life. He could have found another way to help her or just say he can't right now.
