That's stupid. It's also stupid to stay with someone like that. Why hide a fact of your life from someone you plan to spend your life with. And if the relationship isn't something you want longterm, then there is no point in continuing it now. Unless he buys you nice stuff and nice dinners, I don't approve, but I understand if you want to ride this train a little longer.
