wow someone is way too materialistic....
He's a bit wrong though. yes, diamond and graphite are pure carbon, but they're bonded differently. bonds mean everything in chem. Ethanol (the alcohol found in drinks, C2H5OH) is just methanol (C1H3OH) with an extra carbon and two hydrogens. Methanol is just water, (H2O) with an extra carbon and two hydrogens, also. if he gives you water, saying it's just chemically just a little bit off from ethanol, kick him out.
However, graphite IS diamond with NO extra or missing elements. I think everybody realizes that graphite and diamond have drastically different properties because of the way the atoms are bonded. If you really want to give a good example, check out isomers. Same atoms, drastically different chemical properties.
Thank you for a rare breakthrough of intelligence on the internet. However, OP: YDI for being a snarky ****.
Of course the ring matters.... it's a symbol of their love, and yeah, a lot of people really do believe in tradition, I don't think she is materialistic for wanting something she will wear for the rest of her life be the real thing, Idk there is that saying "diamonds are forever" What he should have done is just wait to get a real one if he couldn't get a real one, or tell her that he will get her a real one later on in life, but he loved her so much he couldn't wait that long. Idk just saying "they're both carbon" is a bit of a dick move and unromantic.... Unless she went wtf? and started bitching at him so he said it was the same thing... Which would be a dick move on her part. There are a lot of romantic things that he could have said besides "They're both carbon..........."
I understand why the OP is upset. and I am soooo not materialistic. anyone who knows me will vouch for that. my boyfriend was laid off for 9 months and I paid for everything and I had no problem with it. I don't have expensive taste. I don't wear labels I never ask for anything expensive. however I would like my engagement ring to look pretty. I don't care if it's diamond it could be a really cheap ring. however I think graphite is just tacky and not because it isn't a diamond, because it's not pretty. so just because she was upset with a graphite ring doesn't make her materialistic. and she didn't say she said no because she did t like it. maybe she didn't even tell him she didn't like it because she loves him. so don't call her a materialistic gold digger when you don't know that.
ur an ungrateful bitch
preach!
all a ring is, is a symbol that u have something money cannot buy. the more expensive the symbol usually means he has a tiny dick. sooo graphite , yeah that dudes swinging sone meat!!
#288. iam with you ( HE is Right ) !!!
I can't blame her for being upset. I don't want a diamond ring and would be perfectly fine with a band, but I would prefer just a band over something with an ugly stone in it. I actually told my boyfriend that I would much rather my engagement ring also be partially my mother ring. All of the stones for our children are rather inexpensive and I'm okay with that. That would have more meaning for me than a diamond. Besides he didn't say he got graphite for money reasons. He said he got graphite because "it's basically the same thing." As in there was no sentimental value behind it. He didn't do it because he awesomely extra cared. He's just being a jack ass. I can't imagine how one even goes about getting a ring with graphite in it?
no one cares about u.

It's not about the ring...
why are you bitching? at least you know he wants to spend the rest of his life with you now, so shut the **** up and be happy.
