Today, my boyfriend proposed. The ring just had a piece of graphite on it. My boyfriend argued that since graphite and diamonds are both just forms of carbon, it is the same thing. FML

Today, my boyfriend proposed with the biggest, tackiest, most Geordie Shore-style ring I’ve ever seen. I said yes because I love him, but this thing is twice as wide as my finger and just looks horrible compared to the solitaire ring I told him I really liked. I’m embarrassed to be seen wearing it. this could be an FML it depends. If he can afford even a cheap ring then yes it is an FML. However if he can't afford even a cheap 600 dollar one then I would just accept the stone one and appreciate it the same.

People on here will bitch at anything for the sake of bitching. I'd be pissed if I was the OP, too. I for one do not require a white gold ring with a diamond. In fact, my engagement ring doesn't even have a real diamond in it. But I'd be pissed if my fiancé just said "Uh, I got it cuz it's teh same thing" vs getting it because he honestly couldn't afford a real diamond and thought this other ring looked just as pretty. The former just sounds like he's half assing the proposal instead of trying to do his best despite money problems.
