Today, my boyfriend texted me saying, "I can come over today. She thinks I've got work." I think he had the wrong number. FML

I'd be like. Nope. She thinks you're an ass hole who no longer has a girlfriend

Maybe he was talking about his mother or some other woman (no, not in *that* way) in his life. Ask him about it before jumping to conclusions.

He should be shot. And #74, lets see what you think after YOU'RE cheated on.

Text him back saying "yeah, he thinks he still has a girlfriend" I agree with #74. Cheating/breaking up happens all the time. Man up, kids

ummm..."He's just not that into you." Sorry. Drop him now.

#71: "who really needs to tell their girlfriend they are working so they can see their friends? That is pathetic and still out of line." Depends on how demanding his girlfriend is. You'd be surprised. As for sarcasm, most FMLs aren't written sarcastically. They state several facts, and are usually very plain about them. If she were sure he had the wrong number, typically in an FML, she'd say "He had the wrong number. FML." Review them. Sarcasm is not the norm, and thus shouldn't be assumed.

Okay, I don't get how the friends option is that much better. As others have pointed out, he still lied and I wouldn't have much respect for someone that would rather lie about something as mundane as that than just suck it up and say he wanted to go hang out with friends. Unless the OP is insanely difficult to deal with (in which case he probably shouldn't be in a relationship with her anyway), there's no reason for him to lie about working when he's really with friends.
