Pineapples are in fact fruit. However, strawberries are not berries, yet bananas are.
Yes it is a fusion of berries, but berries are fruit so both of you were right OP.
Pineapples are berries, but berries are a type of fruit so you're both right
"The pineapple “fruit” is not really a fruit at all but is a mass of individual berries fused to the central stalk. This is why the “fruit” has leaves on top. They are actually the continued growth of the stalk beyond where the berries are attached. Pineapples are not grown from seed." That quote is directly from the internet!
Why have a huge argument over it? I would have just let him keep believing it. /shrugs
I got a snapple cap that told me pineapples are berries.
actually your brother is correct pine (because it looks like a pinecone) and apple (added later because of their tasty apple like flesh) and so even though it's name doesn't say berry it really is a group of coalesced (fused or melted together) berries which is also why they have leaves growing straight out of them just like raspberries and all other berries don't believe me? http://www.zliving.com/food/nutrition/know-pineapple-misnamed-group-berries-32800/ just search pineapples coalesced there is tons of evidence.

Just googled it, and pineapples are in fact, a fusion of berries. YDI OP.
A pineapple is not a fruit, but a mass of berries attached to a stalk. So while it is not a single berry, he is technically right.
