Today, my brother's home for his annual visit, lectures my parents once about their eating habits. They promptly throw away all of their junk food. I'm there every Sunday, and have been telling them to eat healthier for medical reasons. They never listen. He's in sales, and I'm in med school. FML

Today, while visiting my parents, I observed that I've been able to visit more often because I've avoided getting sick the whole year. My mother responded by reminding me that I need to get my act together if I'm going to lose weight and get healthier. Not the reaction I hoped for, Mom. FML

Today, I overheard my ripped, handsome, genetically perfect brother telling my mom how "fat people" make him "nervous". I have only recently accepted my weight, after struggling for years. I now understand why my brother rarely talks to me. FML

Today, my parents brought home lunch from a shady grocery store deli. They mused about how hard I am to feed because I turned it down; the last time I ate anything from there, it gave me botulism, and it tastes horrible anyway. They both got sick. Now I'm playing nurse to both. No apologies yet. FML

Today, my sister's husband, who's never even been to college let alone medical school, told me that my cancer is not hereditary, despite a deep family history. He instead swears it's due to my "poor lifestyle and eating habits." Mind you, he's a 300 lbs, fall-down drunk with multiple DUIs. FML

Today, my father has finally started to focus on his health to reduce his weight and cholesterol. He has also decided that I'll do it with him. Now, he won't let me eat unless he's there to watch me. He leaves at 7 a.m. and doesn't come home until 9. FML

Don't make a big deal out of it. Maybe they just threw away the junk food to make their son feel better, since they see him so rarely. But that doesn't mean they'll suddenly change their eating habits just because of a speech. And if they actually do, you should be happy they're eating healthier.

Shes just proving her point saying that you would think her parents would consider her opnion a little more valid than her brothers because she is in med school to be a DOCTOR OR A NURSE OR SOMETHING ELSE IN THE MEDICAL FIELD. would you rather take health advice from a doctor or a sales person?

He's in sales for a reason... they get their point across and get people to agree to SPEND MONEY which, depending who you sell to and what you sell can be tougher than convincing people to go on a diet.
