Today, my company filed for bankruptcy, but the reorganize kind where it still functions. There are no funds to give out paychecks any time soon. They won't fire me. If I voluntarily quit, I cannot file for unemployment. I'm now an unpaid intern. FML

Actually, that is illegal (at least in my state). By law they are required to pay you, by the conditions outlined by your employment, for the work you have done for a week by the following Friday, if they can't pay you they have to terminate you.

You best start stealing as much crap as you can then, remember all the money is in Forks, no one wants spoons nowadays.

#5 are you serious? MPA's have a hella lot earning power right now. What's wrong with him.

Do like Milton in Office Space and burn the place down.

it sucks, but it sounds like your employment contract has been materially breached. You can choose to (a) live with it and hope you eventually get paid, (b) leave and make unemployment claims having been ipso facto laid off, or (c) whine about it on the Internet. Since you have already chosen (c) and relented to (a), why not give (b) a run for the money. FYL.

if your an intern, why were you getting paid in the first place. Interns don't get paid, they work for experience and they use it for a better looking resume- not to get paid.

He isn't an intern, but the circumstances of the bankruptcy mean that now he has to do all his normal work, without getting paid. Thus, he is in effect an unpaid intern.

You and your coworkers should start a workers union in your company, then go on strike. btw, #120, I think he/she means that he/she are now considered an intern, but before he/she was actually an employee. And some interns do get paid.

What would happen if you went Office Space on them and just decided not to go to work, but not quit either? Or better yet take all your payed and sick leave until the company can make payroll.

keep jobb. but look for another. get new job. quit old job.
