Today, my cousin is coming home after his honeymoon. His gift to his new wife was a puppy, which I said I would take care of while they went away. I sneezed last week and scared the puppy. She ran off. This was ten days ago, and I still haven't found the dog. FML

Today, my boyfriend finally let me take his dog on a walk, after two years of not trusting me to keep her safe. During the walk, a car drove by, causing her to run after it and pulling the leash out of my hand. Five hours later, and I still can't find her. FML

When pet sitting, make sure they can't escape from your property and if it's not normally kept outside make sure it can't get outside. If by chance you were walking said puppy: for it to be able to break free of you while on a lead your grip was either insufficient or the collar/harness was (in which case I gather it's your cousins which makes it their fault). The puppy running away after a sneeze is a FYL (funny but FYL), but the fact that it got away from you entirely (presumably from your property) is a YDI. There's not much to do other than tell the cousin what happened and paper the town with 'lost dog' posters. Good luck. Hopefully you find it okay.

It could be Saturday, and it got away, not this-Wednesday-three-days-ago-Wednesday, but the Wednesday before that, last week, for instance. I know, I looked at it and said "Whaaaa....?" also.
