Today, I was talking to my mom about how my fiancé has been ignoring me and that I didn't know why. Turns out, my mother told him that I was too much of a handful, was mentally disturbed and also cheating on him. Just so I wouldn't move out and would keep cleaning her house for free. FML

Today, my parents told me, after 30 years of marriage, that they are getting a divorce. I went to my boyfriend's apartment because I needed some comfort. While sobbing to him, he decided to dump me on the spot because my reaction to the news was "immature" and he wants an "adult" relationship. FML

Today, I got into a fight with my mom because she believes that my fiancé is "irresponsible" and "immature". I stormed out and drove back home. There, I walked in on my fiancé and his friends. Good for you for calling their bluff, OP. And your parents were being breathtakingly disrespectful of you when they made that demand, so they have no right to whine about your lack of respect in calling it. Have you considered eloping and divorcing your parents?

So? My dad, after two divorces, is pissing his money away with gold-digging mistress while I married my high school sweetheart and became financially responsible. Being a parent doesn't make you an authority on everything, or anything at all for that matter.

Okay, I'm gonna try this devil's advocate thing here. Could it be possible the parents have a good reason to do this? We don't know the op and we don't the fiance, it could be possible he is a real d'bag and the op simply doesn't see that, but the parents do. How far would you go for your child? I probably would go as far as possible, depending on the situation... I think both situations are just as likely though...
