Today, my cute coworker begged me to cover his shift tomorrow, and told me that he wanted to take me to dinner to make up for it. I was very excited because I've been crushing on him for a long time. I later overheard him tell his friend that he didn't plan on showing up for our dinner. FML

You've been had! Tell the same coworker, within earshot of your crush, that you don't plan on showing up for his shift.

then you don't plan on showing up for his shift.

To the people saying "Don't show up." At my job, (and many other's) it's never "word of mouth" that you are covering someone's shift. It needs to be approved by management. So "his" shift now becomes "your" shift. Not showing up will only hurt you. Now you know he's a POS and don't do him anymore favorites. Sorry OP, I guess you learned that some are just users.

To solve this predicament, I'd be honest. I'd tell him that I don't cover shifts for assholes and admit that I'd heard him talking about not showing up to dinner.

I hope you're not going to cover his shift!

Damn people can be so ******* mean sometimes.

if u work his shift, then ur a goddamn doormat

If she works his shift, she makes more money. What is wrong with that?
