When I graduated I was so nervous that I completely forgot my prepared speech. I had to make it up as I went along. It was not pretty.
everybody is talking about stagefright and laziness...she just doesnt want to. i can imagine that u dont know what to say and just dont feel like sharing bullshit with so many people. i dont have stagefright but i certainly would not like to do this
Just support her. Encourage her to do face her fears, but dont force her to.
Best FML name, ever.
Sounds like something I'd do!
I have severe social anxiety disorder and can understand the fear of giving that speech. However, the honor of it would be so important that I'd push through the fear anyway. Panic attack and all. I would be so mad if I were you. She worked hard her whole life for those grades. I feel mad for you!
Some people are stage fright. Hope she still gets into college.
I dropped out of highschool because I didn't want to walk across stage
Since she usually gets straight A's, it's probably not because she is to lazy to do a speech, but just scared. Please don't be mad at her, we can't control what we fear. Perhaps you could get her into therapy, or talk to the school about not making her do a speech?

Sounds like she has social anxiety or something of the sort. Ask her why she's afraid of giving a speech maybe?
