Today, my daughter asked why there was an X marked on a telephone pole. I told her it meant that they were going to remove it. She started crying and saying, "They can't kill the tree!" She's 16. FML

39, wtf are you on about? A telephone pole is made from a dead tree. This shouldn't even be debatable. The only thing OP's daughter seems to have had taken away from her is her common sense, as you seem to have as well.
