Today, my daughter found out what happens when my husband watches Mythbusters and doesn't heed the disclaimer to "Not try this at home." He feels bad about her cut face, but says he's proud he can throw a playing card that hard. FML

Yes, he's a cool dad! No, it was certainly NOT on purpose. :) Although she says it hurt, she too thought it funny and requested I place it as a FB status and FML!

I wonder what myth that was... Anyway...I think next time your husband should be at the end of the myth that might change his mind about doing some...

Gambit, is that you? Or perhaps Twisted Fate... Did your husband also teleport?

Funny how so many people think it's child abuse, if the girl agreed it shouldn't even be an issue, OP didn't mention anything about the girl's involvement in all of this. I am saying this on the basis that my dad and I did some pretty stupid stuff too where either he or I got hurt for. Life is risk.

It kind of depends on how old the daughter is. If she's a teenager and she agreed, then they're both at fault because they both should have known something could go wrong. If it's a little girl, then the father is at fault because it's his job to protect her, whether or not she agreed to the mythbusting action. I wanted to go round in the washing machine when it was on when was I was little, but that wouldn't make it okay for my dad to let me. Yes, life is risky, but throwing something at your daughter's face is a risk that could easily be avoided.

It doesn't say anywhere in the post that he purposely was aiming for her... Also asking to go around in a washing machine is completely different , I'm sure the little girl didn't say ..'throw the card at my face daddy'.

He should have at least been considerate enough to watch out for his daughters safety even if he doesnt care for his own safety they were all lucky it was just with cards and not something really dangerous

If it would've been with something other than cards, I doubt that he would've done it

You never know a few years back i read an article of a dad who gave his daughter a cookie to feed a black bear that they ran into hiking when the girl turned around the bear pawed at her back for more luckily for her she had a backpack on and that the bear wasnt trying to intentionally hurt her it just wanted more cookies she was about 5-7 yo so there are parents that stupid to put their own children into those dangerous situations

Hope they don't do a William Tell episode.

I am impressed he was able to throw it quick enough to cut skin.

My friends did something similar when we were younger. We were throwing gift cards in a similar fashion across a basement, only to have one get stuck - shallowly lodged perpendicularly - in my friend's nose. He was sitting across the room watching TV at the time, but we all found it hysterical. Glad everyone in your situation had a sense of humor about it, it'll become one of your favorite memories.

I do hope that this was just one mistake he learned from and he's not actually that stupid.

Who wouldn't be proud they can throw a card that far? Haha but seriously sucks for your daughter, maybe next time she watches Mythbusters she should go get some popcorn when it says to not try this at home

Ninja Level: Dad Sorry about the child though. :(
