Almost all the OBGYN's at our hospital are male. There's no rule saying males examine males and females examine females. However, you CAN request a chaperone if you're female and feel uncomfortable, plus, most people choose their doctors (here in Canada anyway) so if an opposite sex doctor bothers you, then find a different doctor?

Oh because whenever I got my physical and had to get touched, it was a male doctor. When my mom does it, she has a female doctor. All my brothers and father have male doctors and step mother has female doctor

Yeah it's quite possible that it's either a coincidence or that they specifically chose a same sex doctor. My parents, brother, and I all have the same family doctor and he's male, my OBGYN is male, my rheumatologist is male as well. I think it's possible that there are still more male doctors than female though. Though my father's chest doctor (sorry, drawing a blank on the proper term XD) is female.

I think they do it because the male knows the males body the best and females know females the best. Either that or they don't want pervert doctors
