Today, my doctor confirmed that the extreme pain I've been experiencing is due to a kidney stone. My friend decided this was the time to tell me that passing a kidney stone is the male equivalent of child birth. Hello even more pain. FML

Damn, you must be in a pissy mood. Try and see if getting stoned will help alleviate your pain.

eew, I feel bad for you! but I agree with #1

Fyl for having kidney stones. but ur friend telling u how painful it is does really add to ur misery u were going to discover that anyway. I've heard it is actually worse pain, at least the ****** is designed for childbirth.

actually it's worse than childbirth is for women. I have a cousin who's had two kids and a kidney stone and she said she preferred having to go through childbirth to passing her kidney stone.

My boyfriend passed a kidney stone earlier this year. It was enough pain to bring him to his knees sobbing in agony, and he's a Marine. He said it was the worst pain he has ever felt in his life. When he was delirious with pain, I drove him to the emergency room. When he gave a urine sample, his piss looked like coffee. They gave him morphine and antibiotics in the hospital. He was prescribed two painkillers and a muscle relaxer and was still in pain. When he finally passed it, he showed it to me. it was a curved, jagged crystal about three by two millimeters. That sounds small, but look at three millimeters on a ruler and imagine that coming out of your pee-hole. Now imagine it covered in dozens of ******* sharp spikes. And that was about the eighth time he's had to pass one. He had to have thyroid surgery because otherwise his body would just keep building up that extra calcium and stuff in his kidneys. I've never had kids, but I've seen people giving birth. Even without epidural, it doesn't even come close. A woman's body is designed for childbirth. It wants to do it. It expands and stretches for it. It lubricates itself, and the baby's smooth round head naturally angles down at birth to make it even easier. A penis is not ever supposed to have anything like that come out of it. Ever. And your body will let you know very plainly that this is wrong. Good luck, OP.

wow.. congrats i think ur the first guy on earth to give birth... (; if not.. how would u know how it feels?? lol i understand it must hurt like hell but unless u have experienced both.. maybe comparing it to childbirth wasnt the greatest idea!! but hope u feel better soon!! (=

I've had 5 so far, they can suck pretty bad but for the most part you have nothing to worry about OP.

Well take it as a learning experience plus now you can tell women you understand what they go through.

186: Labor pains feel just like that. Excruciating back pain, it radiates out in waves from your back to your stomach.

215: Just because it is designed to stretch doesnt make it easier. Alot of women's vaginal openings tear wide open all the way down to their anus giving birth. The baby gets stuck, complications arise and you need an emergency c cection or the mom and baby die during childbirth. Theres added stress vs a kidney stone cause theres a baby in the picture if complications arise.

I'm still pretty sure men value their penises quite a bit, perhaps almost as much as a baby. Men can damage nerves and blood vessels while passing a stone, which could make sex and urination painful for the rest of their lives. I'd say that's pretty stressful too. Complications can arise during pregnancy, yes, but that doesn't mean women's bodies aren't designed specifically for the purpose of carrying and giving birth to babies. A penis is designed for liquids and only for liquids. Kidney stones can cause complications just as severe as childbirth, from something as simple as a UTI all the way up to an agonising death from kidney infection and failure. I'm not saying childbirth doesn't hurt, because I'm sure it does, but most women are able to get an epidural to numb the pain and an episiotomy to prevent tearing. There is no medicine on earth that can stop the pain of a kidney stone for its entire duration without overdosing.

"An episiotomy to prevent tearing." Ha. Like cutting your perineum open with scissors is an improvement over it tearing. Episiotomies also often lead to worse tears because it is much easier to tear into something that is already cut, just like a piece of paper.

I'm sorry about what your going through, and hope for as little pain as possible, but comparing it to child birth is just wrong! never have I heard of passing a stone to take 3 days of excruciating pain to finally get to push for an hour & no baby.. this case no stone. to get vacuumed for an hour & no baby/ stone & finally end up with a 9 in cut in their abdomen! child birth is worse- no doubt!
