It's ok OP; I received a bottle of lotion re-gifted from my stepmom. I know it was re-gifted because there was a lovely note taped to it that was sure to tell me that it was a re-gift. Of course, I know times are hard and appreciate anything I get but my stepmom just hates body spray/scents. It was funny! Your aunt should laugh, and stop being so sensitive.
I imagine this is why you don't keep a re gift pile.
Ikr, i was thinking "who has a re-gift pile"
Why is she so sensitive anyway? Does she expect some super fancy gift every time a holiday or event rolls around? She needs to stop focusing on material items like a spoiled brat. Still, YDI for not remembering to buy her a gift knowing she's super-sensitive.
My mother and I have a re-gift CRATE. She works at a school and is diabetic, and usually gets something like twelve boxes of chocolate, a bunch of scented candles, and various other not-terribly-personal things for us to wrap up in an emergency. My partner's parents nearly ALWAYS buy me jewelry - not expensive stuff, costume stuff, or soaps, despite knowing that I almost never wear jewelry and when I do it isn't a pair of heavy hoop earrings, and that I'm allergic to virtually every single soap/lotion under the sun, with the exception of unscented, oatmeal-based natural things (Lush Porridge soap, for example). In the eight years we've been together I've received countless things I'll never use/wear from them, despite the fact that he tells Usually also contains some homemade gifts (she knits, I paint and do other crafts so there's generally other things, too).

WTF iPhone. It double-posts before I'm done making my comment and then won't allow me to edit it. I meant to say: "...he tells them not to when they ask about what kind of gifts to get me."
I usually keep a few small things and low amount gift cards around. Perfect if you forget someone for Christmas or birthday without having to regift.
this is the reason why i would just put money in a card and say something like "i didnt know what you would like so i hope you use this to buy something nice!" and thats that!
I don't get re-gifting. Do you just pass along a bad present or is the intention to give it to someone who would enjoy it? Or is just for cases like this, when you've forgotten to get them something?
all 3 to be honest
Next time write the name of the person who gave a gift to you so you don't repeat your mistake.

You should have played it off like you liked her gift so much last year, you decided to get her one too for this year
Should have gotten her some Sensodyne toothpaste. Heard it really helps with sensitivity.
