Today, my family and I went to a beach where you could swim with dolphins. I was a little scared to swim with them so the trainers had a 5 minute chat to me about how they were harmless creatures. Once I got in, the dolphin attacked me and bit me. FML

Nice. Dolphins enjoy a good joke like the rest of us.

#30, the trainer was just doing his job. What do you expect him to say to a scared person, YEAH THESE THINGS WILL RIP YOUR ARMS OFF! WATCH OUT!

The trainer is gonna tell you they are harmless because they want people to go into the water so people will keep coming to their business. Trained dolphins are less harmless than wild ones but they still can be really dangerous. I believe it, dolphins can be vicious.

#31, Surely their job is to take care of the customers as well. Something along of the lines of "They *can* attack, but it is rare." wouldn't have hurt. Clearly there is some risk. For example, you *can* get injured skiing. If a ski instructor tells you can never get injured, are they doing their job well?

Ok, I am a dolphin trainer and where as yes, wild dolphins can be unpredictable. It is physically impossible for a dolphin to actually bite anything, they may have grazed you with their teeth or your hand may have gotten into their mouth but it could not have actually bit down with any pressure. That would never even be the response of an dolphin, bitiing is not one of their defenses or even play habits, you should have feared being fluked not being bit.

Well yes they can bite...recently there was footage of a girl being bitten by a dolphin at sea world - her own fault admittedly and not intentional on the dolphins part as it was an accident, but it does show they are capable of biting

#6. No they don't! If you'd have done YOUR research you'd know that dolphins PROTECT other animals from sharks because of their natural instincts!! That includes humans. There have been several documented cases of shipwreck victims being surrounded by sharks but surviving because a dolphin scared them away.

Actually, #35, it has been proven that dolphins sometimes attack other creature (like young Porpoises) for no reason other than for fun. So yeah, they're cute and sweet a lot of the time, but they can be real dicks too. the trainers should have known and better handled the situation. dolphins have behaviors that give signals on how they feel. They should also know how you are feeling and decide whether or not it was honestly safe for you to go in to the water. That sucks for you, lawsuit.

OMFG Americans and lawsuits, why should he sue? If op wins then he gets tons of money he didn't need and the dolphin may be put on death row. Also the worst injury op could have gotten is puncture wounds from little teeth, unless the plan is to sue for bandaids why ruin someone else's life (if its a small establishment) and kill an animal
