Today, my family took me to a steak house. I went for an eight minute bathroom break, coming back to an empty table. They ordered dessert, and left me the bill. I'm a vegetarian, and it's my birthday. FML

I love how most people are getting hung up on the fact that the OP is a vegan. Yeah, taking 8 minutes is a pretty long time but the huge part of this FML is being ditched by the family on her BIRTHDAY, and having to foot the [expensive] bill. FYL, OP, your parents have to be extremely huge douchebags to do that to their own daughter. Don't ever buy them any kind of gift ever again until they pay you back at least twofold.
